Teachers' Voice
“When I was training I was told I needed to speak up more”, “Losing your voice is just part of the job”, “I’m not a very good teacher because I can’t control the classroom and manage behaviour”, “Sometimes I just shout, I know I shouldn’t, but sometimes there’s no other way!”
During our work with teachers across the UK for more than a decade, we have heard nearly every kind of negative comment given to teachers about their voice. You wouldn’t speak to your students like that, so why speak to yourself or your colleagues that way?
Voice is a skill that needs to be learned. Using your voice for your profession is a set of skills that need to be learned from voice professionals and yet there are woefully few (if any) ITT courses that have voice skills embedded into their curriculum.
Voice is a skill that needs to be learned

Schools, colleges and universities often only address the issue when someone is signed off long-term due to vocal fatigue. In our book, that’s just not good enough and almost every teacher we’ve spoken to agrees.
You are responsible for your own health, wellbeing and voice. We offer INSET and other forms of CPD to give you the skills to take that responsibility so that you can continue to do the brilliant, inspiring work that you do.
Our support doesn’t stop at the end of the session, TemperVox train voices for life & we’re always just an email away.
